Sapawe Ontario : Photos, 1920's - 1950's.

• Photo Album of George Johnson, c.1925-30. Many thanks to David Black, of Washington State, for these 27 photos taken by his grandfather, George Johnson. George was born in Port Arthur in 1895, and when these photos were taken he owned six logging and mill camps between Crooked Pine Lake (east of Sapawe) and Atikokan. The photos show general views of camp buildings as well as some of the workers. One photo is of downtown Atikokan. The only people identified are Bill Cuff and George Johnson.
• Mink Ranch at Sapawe, 1941 or Earlier. Thanks to Patricia Stone for these nine photos of her great-uncle, Charles Parsons, and his nephew (Patricia's father) John Blair Stone, who started a mink farm at Sapawe about 1936. The venture lasted only a short while before the animals died of disease. Surnames: Cassels, Parsons, Porter, Stone. A news clipping from 1937, about the mink farm is also included.
• Graham Harris, late 1950's. This portrait was taken by Frank Morice, founder of the Atikokan Camera Club, about 1957.
• Graham Harris, another photo. Taken by Margaret Dobie about the same time as the one above. He's sitting in front of his cabin in Sapawe.
